Akeler - Leeds, Leeds Valley Business Park

Date: 03 Dec 2004

A second phase is to be developed at one of the most successful out-of-town business park developments in Yorkshire.

Work will begin in February at Leeds Valley Park for two office buildings of 80,000 sq ft and 60,000 sq ft at the Akeler development, which is located at the intersection of the M1 and M621, three miles south of Leeds city centre. It will be the largest out-of-town speculative development in Yorkshire in 2005 and the largest speculative start on site for the year announced so far in the area.

Phase one, which offered 120,000 sq ft accommodation in total, saw a 50,000 sq ft pre-let to dairy giant Arla Foods and 30,000 sq ft let to international defence specialists Alvis Vickers, with just one building of 40,000 sq ft now available.

Work on the second phase is anticipated to complete by summer 2006.

"The go ahead for a Phase 2 shows Akeler's confidence in the Leeds and broader Yorkshire market and the likely demand for premium, out of town offices in the short to medium term," comments Patrick Going, Director, Akeler. "It's a buoyant market and one which is well-positioned for future growth.

"We're confident that the success of Leeds Valley Park to date will be repeated in this next, larger phase of development."

Agents for Leeds Valley Park will continue to be Jones Lang Lasalle's Leeds office, headed by James Pitt, and Cushman and Wakefield Healey and Baker, headed by James Weedon.
