Ryden has promoted Brian Allen, Richard Lang, Gerry Smith, John Conroy and Derek Tillery to the partnership, taking the total number of partners to 32. All five were recognised for exceptional performance and their contribution to the firm's continued leading position in the market.

Five staff members have been promoted to associate level; they include Alan Herriot, Fiona Clandillon, James Burns, Tim Jacobsen and Fiona Stoddard. Further promotions include Stephen Harrison, David Hockey and Iain Taylor, who all become senior surveyors. All appointments are effective from 1 May.

Brian Allen and Richard Lang work in the firm's Professional services group. They are based in Edinburgh and Aberdeen respectively and specialise in valuation, rent review and rating work. Gerry Smith is based between Glasgow and Edinburgh in Ryden's Building Consultancy group which offers building surveying, architectural, project management and development monitoring services. John Conroy is a retail agency and development expert and is based between Ryden's Glasgow and Edinburgh offices. Derek Tillery heads up the firm's Property Management department which looks after a diverse portfolio of properties across Scotland and Northern England.

New associates Alan Herriot and Fiona Clandillon are based in Ryden's Edinburgh office. Alan specialises in industrial within the firm's large Agency & Development Group. Fiona is a planning expert in the Consulting group which covers development advice, planning, research and market studies. Tim Jacobsen is based in Glasgow and specialises in office agency; Fiona Stoddard works in the firm's Professional group in Leeds and James Burns is head of Ryden's expanding Inverness office.

Stephen Harrison and David Hockey are both based in the firm's Leeds office and concentrate on investment and professional services respectively. Iain Taylor is based in Edinburgh and specialises in office agency.
