Chalcroft Construction - General Other - Dersingham, Norfolk

Date: 07 Aug 2008

Dersingham's Hazel Green now has a new watercolour to celebrate the fact that she was the first patient to have an appointment at the village's new health centre.

Built by King's Lynn firm Chalcroft Construction, the new £2.2m Carole Brown Health Centre features extensive and modern facilities to replace the old health centre which was designed to cope with about much smaller numbers of patients. The new health centre was promised when Vida Healthcare took over the provision of GP services at Dersingham exactly five years ago. Since then a considerable amount of consultation and negotiation has been undertaken to provide the new building.

Constructed over a 42-week period on behalf of Pigeon Holdings, the centre also boasts facilities for other health practitioners. In particular, there are extensive training facilities which will enable Vida healthcare to train doctors and nurses for the future as well as benefitting current staff.

Hazel (51) was presented with a watercolour painting of the new building painted by local artist Mary Kallagher. Hazel said of the new facility: "It's absolutely brilliant. It's so much better than what we had as there's more room for services and more room for people to park."

Graham Dickerson, Vida Healthcare's Managing Partner, commented: "It's a fantastic new facility for the whole of the village. We can provide a wide range of services for the people of Dersingham and surrounding areas and we are proud that we can practice from state-of-the-art premises.

"The support we have been given by the patients, staff, Norfolk NHS, the developers, architect and Chalcroft Construction has been tremendous. This strong partnership working has produced a beautiful, functional building."

As principal contractors, Chalcroft has established itself as an industry-leading construction company, and is currently working on a number of high-profile projects in Norfolk.

Chalcroft contracts manager Andrew Hardy, who worked on the Dersingham health centre project, commented: "Chalcroft has built its reputation on working in partnership with its customers and so it is great to see that the people of Dersingham now have facilities they need."
