Date: 12 Aug 2008
Lalique, the French luxury goods company, has acquired a new London flagship store at 47 Conduit Street, enabling it to create a new showcase for its world famous crystal, jewellery and glassware.
Lalique, occupiers of one of the most prominent shops in New Bond Street, opposite its junction with Clifford Street, have acquired the entire building 47 Conduit Street for their relocation programme.
The new premises will comprise 5,000 sq ft (464 sq m) of premium retail space on lower ground, ground and three upper floors, taken on a 15-year lease from a private landlord, at a rent of £250,000 a year: simultaneously to the Landlord taking a surrender of the lease held by PPQ, the previous occupants.
The Lorenz Consultancy acted for Lalique, Thomas Davidson the freeholder and Wilson McHardy advised PPQ. The Lorenz Consultancy have been retained to dispose of the existing retail premises at 162 New Bond Street, well known for its celebrity and high net worth visitors.
Lalique, which can trace its origins to founder Rene Jules Lalique (1860-1945), is one of the most iconic French luxury goods brands, noted for its work in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles, and known for its beautiful jewellery and glass making. The company, now part of Swiss luxury goods group Art & Fragrance SA, has stores in cities across the world.
Anthony Lorenz, Senior Partner of The Lorenz Consultancy commented: "The Lalique relocation shows that the global luxury goods market remains buoyant. The new outlet will enable Lalique to have a new showcase for its collections and underlines the ongoing emergence of Conduit Street as a luxury goods thoroughfare to compliment neighbouring New Bond Street."
