Premier Electrics - General Other - UK

Date: 28 Aug 2008

LEADING Irish electrical contractor, Premier Electrics, has just finished work on its most significant contract to date - a major electrical fit-out for the new M&S flagship store in Colliers Wood, London.

It has been a busy time for the successful Bellaghy company which has also been involved in another massive refurbishment project at the M&S store in Grafton Street, Dublin.

The 100,000 square foot store in Colliers Wood is now the largest M&S store in London. Premier was contracted to supply state-of-the-art sensor lighting, as well as installing a modern IT, fire alarm and security system throughout the building.

A priority for the retail giant was the incorporation of similar energy-saving initiatives to those used in its first 'green' store in Bournemouth, which included self-closing taps, lower energy usage escalators and movement sensor lighting.

Premier Electrics' company manager, Tony Shivers reveals: "This was really a huge contract for us and we worked closely alongside Wates Retail, the main contractor for the project. We were 18 weeks on-site, installing the state-of-the-art lighting system, in addition to the latest in CCTV security and fire alarm systems."

Meanwhile, the Grafton Street scheme was a phased project carried out over the course of a year. It involved the Premier Electrics' team working in phased 24-hours shifts - allowing customers to continue shopping while the extensive refurbishment work was carried out around them.

Tommy McKenna, Premier's contracts manager, explained: "The store continued to trade while we fitted the new lighting, security and IT systems, so the team often worked through the night to facilitate this. We are delighted to have been involved with the successful re-launch of this busy city centre store."

These major contracts are just two in a long list of high profile projects with which the leading Northern Ireland-based company has been involved recently.

Premier Electrics, established since 1993, has built up a reputation for excellence and quality thanks to significant and ongoing projects with key retailers such as M&S, Debenhams and Primark.

To further emphasise its place as a market leader, the company has recently employed the services of leading design consultancy and PR company and will shortly unveil a fresh new brand image.
