Acting on behalf of the British Heart Foundation (BHF), consultant surveyors Taylor Son & Creber have acquired the leasehold interest of one of the most prominent retail premises in the city of Plymouth.

The 1463m2 (15,570 sq ft) city centre property, on the junction of Western Approach and Union Street, adjoins the Plymouths Toys 'R' Us store and is beneath one of the cities largest public car parks with 1147 spaces.

The premises will accommodate BHF's flagship furniture and electrical store, the first of a number planned in the principal towns throughout Devon & Cornwall adding to BHF's extensive national retail operation.

Nick Wheeldon MRICS, director of Taylor Son & Creber said: "This acquisition is part of a national retail expansion strategy by the British Heart Foundation and is the first and largest property in their plans for this area.

The premises were marketed by joint agents Ashwell Rogers and Stratton Creber Commercial on behalf of Toys 'R'Us with an asking rental of £141,750 per annum exclusive.

Taylor Son & Creber have negotiated a new10 year sub lease with a 5 year rent review on behalf of British Heart Foundation at £60,000 p.a exclusive.
