Strutt & Parker - Retail Letting - Milton Keynes, England

Date: 01 Oct 2008

Legal & General, advised by Strutt & Parker, has secured T M Lewin and Azendi at its Midsummer Place Shopping Centre in Milton Keynes. The centre, now fully let, continues to be one of the UK's leading shopping centres and has attracted a succession of aspirational retailers in the past 12 months.

The lettings to T M Lewin and Azendi follow earlier lettings to Puma, Apple, award winning women's fashion retailer Coast, UK women's retailer Hobbs and an upsize of Hugo Boss. Other major retailers include Zara, Top Shop, Gap, H&M, Karen Millen, Mango, Footlocker, Schuh and Bank. The scheme, which totals 418,000 sq ft, is part of a thriving shopping centre which prides itself on having the four major anchors of John Lewis, House of Fraser, Marks and Spencer and Debenhams.

Details of the lettings are as follows:

Shirtmakers T M Lewin has taken 1,730, sq ft on the ground floor and 630 sq ft on the first floor and the contemporary British jeweller Azendi has taken 1,298 sq ft on the ground floor. Both retailers have taken 15 year leases.

CBRE acted for T M Lewin and Dressler Smith acted for Azendi.

Rob Williams of Strutt & Parker's Retail Agency team comments:
"Research shows that Milton Keynes, amongst other RSC's, benefits from having the largest proportion of high spending 25 - 44 year olds in the UK and the 2nd highest household income. These facts have driven the strategy behind attracting aspirational retailers to Midsummer Place which in turn, with the centre now fully let, has contributed to the success of the scheme."
