Date: 15 Jun 2009
Witan Gate House, one of Milton Keynes' landmark buildings, has been the subject of a lease transfer, arranged through commercial property specialists Douglas Duff, whereby the head lease of the entire building has been assigned to engineers Stone & Webster Ltd (now Shaw Energy and Chemicals Ltd) from BP (International) Ltd. Both companies will continue to occupy their existing offices there.
"With Witan Gate House extending to some 143,000 sq ft, this represents the largest office transaction in Milton Keynes for over 10 years" commented Robert Shacklock of Douglas Duff. "It also confirms the commitment of Shaw Energy and Chemicals Ltd to Milton Keynes."
Part of the international engineering Shaw Group, Shaw Energy and Chemicals Ltd is one of the major employers in Milton Keynes and now occupies a total of approximately 90,000 sq ft at Witan Gate House, which dominates the Western end of Milton Keynes' business district, overlooking both Avebury and Midsummer Boulevards. The company has been expanding steadily for several years with a growing international reputation for providing design, engineering and construction solutions for process, power, environmental, infra-structure, petro-chemical and industrial clients all over the world.
Distinctive for its size, style and full-height glazed atrium entrances, Witan Gate House has a full complement of distinguished occupiers: BP (International) Ltd which has offices of around 35,000 sq ft, Shoosmiths Solicitors with offices extending to some 15,000 sq ft and Shaw Energy and Chemicals Ltd.
