A team of Bristol property agents donned overalls and gardening gloves to give Lockleaze Primary School and Early Years Centre a 'Ground Force' style makeover.
Led by Kevin Bale, a landscape gardener from Batello Garden Designs, the 21 volunteers from Savills spent a day at the school to transform part of the grounds into a new garden and allotment area that will be used as a teaching resource and to grow fresh produce for school meals.
Work included stripping the turf, creating raised garden beds for plants and herbs, making a wooden table and bench and painting a beautiful floral mural.
The garden will be maintained both by the school and members of the local community, whom the school is keen to involve as much as possible in its activities.
Richard Reddrop, head of community services at Lockleaze Primary School, said: "We all love our new garden and were so impressed by how much the team did in just one day. We have had so many positive comments from the children and their parents. We'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who was involved."
Craig O'Brien, head of planning at the Bristol office of Savills, said: "We had a fantastic day at Lockleaze Primary. It was a pleasure to be able to make a real difference to the school and the local community, while also getting the chance for some team building in a very different environment. Everyone pulled together and worked extremely hard. We felt a huge sense of achievement at what we were able to create for the school and it's community."
