HM Land Registry - General - Important Changes To Land Registry Fees

Date: 01 May 2001

The ability to deliver "outline applications to secure priority, to apply electronically for "day list" information and to make an official "search of the Land Register" under the Family Law Act 1996 - are included for the first time in the Land Registration Fees Order 2001 (SI 2001/1179).

The new Fees Order comes into effect on I May 2001, replacing th Land and Registration Fees Order 1999. It includes the following changes:

- With the extension of Real Time Priority on 29 May 2001, fees of £2 and £4 are being introduced for a new service which will allow customers to lodge certain applications in outline form. Outline applications can be used to reserve a period of priority for interests that cannot be protected by an official search. Accessing the system via Land Registry Direct will save money. The fee is £2 when the application is delivered electronically from a customer's own computer or £4 when delivered by any other means.

- A fee of £2 is introduced for an official search of the register made under the Family Law Act 1996 by a mortgagee using a remote terminal.

- A fee of £1 is introduced for a service enabling authorised users to apply for day list information via Land Registry Direct. The day list is the computerised record of applications pending in the Registry. Users will be able to call up on screen the day list entries relating to any particular registered title. In practice, however, this fee will be waived until further notice.

- Principal fee scale, Scale 1, is amended so as to reduce the fee in the value band £40,001 to £70,000 from £70 to £60. The new scale is set out below:
