Hamilton Associates - Appointment - Robin Partington

Date: 20 Nov 2001

This month, Robin Partington leaves his position as a Director of Foster and Partners to join architect Hamilton Associates where he will spearhead the 130 strong firm's strategic drive for a higher design profile and a more varied portfolio.

"It was an extraordinary opportunity" said Robin Partington "to join an already successful practice with a good reputation and help it achieve its full potential by competing at the highest level. I will be responsible for the design direction of the practice, and I am bringing with me everything that I learnt in my seventeen years at Fosters."

Robin Partington will work alongside Chairman, Tim Hamilton, who has led the practice for more than thirty years. "We have grown steadily over the years and we have produced many buildings of which we - and our clients - are very proud" explained Tim Hamilton. "Robin is here to move the practice further towards the cutting edge of design and to help us penetrate new market sectors, including infrastructure, cultural, sports, education, and international work".

At Foster and Partners, Robin Partington was the Director responsible for buildings as diverse as the Barcelona Tower; the American Air Museum at Duxford, Glasgow's "Armadillo" and the Swiss Re Tower, currently under construction in the City of London. "Hamilton's will now be pursuing a wider variety of projects" said Partington "and by combining the expertise I gained at Fosters with Hamilton's already excellent architectural service, we will be able to deliver a unique product."

Hamilton Associates has just moved into a detached two-storey office, off the King's Road, which reflects the firm's new approach. The new office is at 280 Kings Road, London SW3 and will act as the headquarters for the practice.

Hamilton Associates is well known for its strong portfolio of commercial, corporate and residential schemes. Its current workload includes a 35,000 sq m mixed-use development on site at Fulham Broadway and plans for a striking new Training Centre near Heathrow which has just been submitted for planning approval.
