Slough Estates plc, landlord of the Howard Centre in Welwyn Garden City, is relocating Next into the former Index store, more than doubling Next's representation from its existing unit of 4,378 sq ft (407 sq m) to a new store of approximately 9,500 sq ft (883 sq m). Next will occupy the unit under a new 15-year lease at a rent of £160,000 pa subject to a three months' trading rent-free period.

The Howard Centre, which is anchored by Marks & Spencer, Boots and W H Smith, is fully let and boasts an impressive range of national, multiple and independent retailers.

Slough Estates, represented by its joint letting agents Healey & Baker and Brasier Harris, is due to announce the letting of the former Next unit in the near future.
