Lambert Smith Hampton - A Moving Story

Date: 06 Aug 1998

Birmingham consultant surveyors Lambert Smith Hampton have moved over the road after more than 80 years in the same Newhall Street offices.

The firm has left Grade II listed No. 50/52 in favour of a new home at the former Coopers & Lybrand building at 35 Newhall Street.

Lambert Smith Hampton began its search for new premises two years ago when mergers with Connell Wilson and Herring Baker added to an already expanding staff roll.

Mr Michael Kearney, regional chief executive at the firm, said: "Lambert Smith Hampton in Birmingham has twice the number of staff and four times the turnover it had a decade ago."

"Two years ago the need for larger premises became quite pressing. After scouring Birmingham city centre for suitable offices, we have ended up just 25 metres from our former front door!"

Lambert Smith Hampton occupies one-and-a-half floors of 12,000 sq ft and shares the building with Bradstock Insurance Brokers, Euler Trade Indemnity and solicitors Lee Crowder.

Its former premises, comprising 7,833 sq ft (727.7 sq m), is now on the market. Offers in the region of £750,000 are being sought for the freehold.
