Distribution property specialist sbh.uk has won the contract to project manage a 3,860 sq m (41,500 sq ft) storage and distribution facility for Pactiv Jiffy Limited. The building will have to link two existing facilities on the company’s Winsford Cheshire site and as a result will provide the flexibility for products to be manufactured and stored in one of two separate units. Using high density, double-deep pallet racking, Jiffy will be able to store its various paper and plastic products as well as the famous Jiffy padded bag products.

Vehicle access to the building will be through two level access doors and the scheme provides parking for eight trailer units.

The site lies next to land owned by Railtrack, close to a railway line with houses on the other side. As part of the planning requirement sbh.uk will provide earth mounding and landscaping to reduce the visual impact of the development on residents.

Set up in 1896, Jiffy Packaging came to the fore after launching its famous padded bags in 1964. The company is now part of Pactiv.
