BCSC - General - Basingstoke, Festival Place
Date: 01 Jul 2002
BCSC, the retail property organisation, is hosting a study tour to Festival Place, Basingstoke – Grosvenor’s £300 million retail and leisure development which is due to open in October.
The study tour, which takes place on Tuesday 9th July 2002, features a presentation by developers Grosvenor and their team and a tour of the million square foot scheme. The development, which is the largest retail and leisure scheme opening in the UK this year, incorporates the fully refurbished existing shopping centre, The Walks, and a 500,000 sq ft new build housing the scheme’s leisure offer. The leisure element of the scheme is centred around Festival Square, an area dedicated to eateries which is set partly around an attractive open-air public square and partly under a tented structure leading to a 10-screen cinema. Also within the centre is a night club and sports centre.
Comments BCSC President Jenefer Greenwood:
“Festival Place is one of the very few new schemes that will open its doors during 2002. This study tour offers a great opportunity for BCSC members and their guests to see the final phase of construction and handovers and to hear first hand about the issues faced by the operations team during the new build and refurbishment”.
