Date: 15 Jul 2002
Several months after announcing the opening of a new Central London Store in Kensington High Street, the first for 20-years, Habitat, advised by Catella has acquired a new UK Headquarters in London and is actively searching for locations to open new stores across Greater London.
The new headquarters is in the Spitalfields area at 42-46 Princelet Street, London E1, where they have taken an assignment on a 1,812 sq m (19,500 sq ft) converted warehouse building that has been substantially revitalised to provide accommodation of contemporary design and facilities. The offices on the ground floor and the three upper floors are partially air-conditioned.
The passing rent equates to £139.93 per sq m (£13.00 per sq ft). The property was held on the residue of a 10-year lease from June 2000; an undisclosed premium was paid by Habitat. Tarn & Tarn represented the assignor, Gorrilla Park.
Gordon Wood, director at Catella who advises Habitat commented: “Habitat has embarked upon an aggressive acquisition programme for Greater London and is seeking new stores of around 20,000 sq ft across the Capital with priority being given to areas such as Clapham, Shoreditch and Hampstead.”
