Lisney - Retail Letting - Dublin, Blanchardstown Retail Park

Belfast commercial property consultancy Lisney has announced that Maplin Electronics has acquired a retail warehousing unit in Dublin.

Maplin Electronics acquired the former Time Computers unit in Blanchardstown Retail Park Dublin, making it the company’s third outlet in Ireland. The unit extends to approximately 5,262 sq. ft, with the passing rental being €126,625 per annum.

This acquisition follows Maplin’s recent purchase of a stand alone 6,250 sq ft. retail warehouse in Belfast earlier this month. Maplin Electronics stated that the Belfast purchase was the first step in its strategy to expand its operations throughout the island of Ireland, with an emphasis on larger out of town units.

Maplin is now seeking further premises in Galway, Cork, Limerick, Londonderry and Belfast. The electronics retailer currently has 64 outlets throughout the UK

Eamonn Murphy of Lisney (Belfast), who assisted Maplin Electronics in the acquisition stated:
"Having traded in Jervis Street, Dublin for several years, our client was keen to acquire a retail warehouse unit in Dublin.

“This store came to the market at the right time and as it met our client’s ideal size of 5000 sq. ft, it was too good an opportunity to miss. The unit will be open in October 2002. We are still looking for other outlets in Ireland and are in negotiations for other outlets at present, which would open next year.”

Graham Caldwell, Managing Director of Maplin Electronics said: “Maplin Electronics is seeking new premises throughout Ireland as part of a strategic expansion programme. The new out of town units will offer greater choice to customers along with better parking and longer opening hours. We are confident that our customers will appreciate the new outlets.”
