The Fishing

The river is divided into seven beats and during the week a timeshare owner will have the exclusive use of each beat for a day for two rods. This exclusive use is then rotated on a daily basis so that all seven beats are fished during the week. There are huts on all beats and numerous benches for observation and contemplation along the well maintained banks.

The character of the river varies between shallow runs, through smooth glides to deep pockets. The river runs through both open meadows and wooded areas, the latter of which provides both shade and protection to the fish. Apart from the main river, one of the beats has a carrier and a pond and another has the hatch pool outside the Mill. Each beat produces its own challenges and requires stealth, patience and an understanding of fly life and water conditions to produce the best results.

The river is stocked throughout the year with both brown and rainbow trout to sustain a level of fish commensurate with the condition and nature of the river. Fishing is subject to appropriate rules in keeping with a high quality fishery. Selected examples are set out below.

Fishing is by upstream dry fly only until 1 July of each year after which an upstream nymph (weighted or unweighted) may also be used.

Fish under 12” must be returned and the daily bag limit is two brace of trout per rod excluding returned undersized fish and grayling but including any other trout returned. Daily record of catches must be maintained.

Terms:

The timeshare comprises two separate weeks' accommodation in the Mill House, one week in the fishing season with fishing for two rodsand one of out of season week, for ten years from 2007. Price on application. Additional rods may be available on certain days.

The Timeshare period begins on Friday, 28th April 2007 and ends on 7th April 2017.
