What it involves
Search engines need to know that your website exists. There are many search engines and each has its own way of:
- finding a website;
- identifying the keywords in the site; and
- giving the site a ranking that decides how high it will appear in the list of search results.
Search engines have different approaches:
- You don't need to register your site – the search engine finds your website (or not) on its own.
- You need to register your site but it is free to do so.
- Your registration is free but you can speed up the registration process by paying a fee.
