Types of website

Websites come in all sizes, types and costs, so we split them into three main types.

Brochure on-line

This is similar to a hard copy of your existing brochure, and is a cheap way of getting your company on-line. We offer these as ready-made websites starting at about £750.

You should probably market a website like this on your company's letterhead and corporate literature rather than spending money on other marketing activities.

Active text

This type of site is regularly updated with new information, and has a few functions in a well-structured, easily navigable site. You will update the site regularly using a content management system.

You need to allow between £8,000 and £15,000 to create your website. As the site will need some marketing expense such as links from portals (websites like ours) and search engines, you need to budget about £5,000 each year for marketing.

Sales tool

A 'sales tool' website has a large range of features and functions, and it focuses on creating on-line relationships between you and your clients. Collecting clients' contact details and providing email forms for visitors to fill in are essential. We would charge from £15,000 upwards for this type of site, and you would need to carry out a full-scale marketing campaign with obvious links in portals and search engines that would cost from about £10,000 a year.

In Step 1: Advice on scope, we look at what type of site is best for you.
